Servings: 8-9 squares Time: ~35 min (10 min prep, 20-25 min bake) Oven: 350°F
Ingredients
- ½ cup butter / 1 stick
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips
- Vanilla ice cream, for serving
Method
Heat oven to 350°F.
Line or grease an 8x8 pan.
Melt butter and let cool for 1-2 minutes.
Whisk in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
Add cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
Stir gently until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips if using.
Spread batter into pan.
Bake for 20 minutes, then check.
If still liquid, continue baking in 5-8 minute increments.
Brownies are done when a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs, not wet batter.
Let cool slightly.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
If brownies cool too much, microwave each square for 10-15 seconds before serving.
